“I enjoy contributing to our client’s success by guiding them through all levels of tax, accounting and business matters, using a common sense, direct approach. When working with business owners, it is extremely rewarding to provide services and advice which helps them maximize their profit potential, while also addressing troublesome issues, which allows our clients to focus their time and energy on their true passion, their business.”

Steve has over two decades of experience in public accounting, most recently as a partner with a large local firm for over twelve years. Steve has had the opportunity to work with companies of all sizes, from startups to publicly traded, covering a wide range of industries. Prior to entering public accounting, Steve worked briefly with the Internal Revenue Service.

Steve earned his Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Gustavus Adolphus College. “The most rewarding part about being a CPA is helping a client achieve their financial goals by providing solutions to accounting and tax issues that puts more money into their pockets.”

Tom has more than 12 years of experience in providing clients with high-quality, practical accounting and tax advice. His primary focus is on income tax preparation, planning and consulting services for closely-held businesses and their owners. Tom also consults clients on small business accounting and payroll tax issues, and represents them in resolving IRS and state tax matters.

Tom earned his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls in 1999 and is currently working on obtaining a Masters of Business Taxation from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants.

The most important thing in Tom’s life is his family. He loves to spend as much time as he can with his wife, Amanda, and daughter, Jocelyn, and also visits his parents back in his home state of Wisconsin as often as possible. When Tom gets a free minute, he loves to get out and play different golf courses around the Twin Cities area or enjoy a cold Leinenkugel’s with friends while cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Wild, or Minnesota Twins in person or on TV.

“Large enough to serve you, small enough to care. That’s the phrase my dad used in his body shop for more than 30 years. It is perfect that he finished using it at precisely the same time Kennedy & Associates was formed, because it fits us to a tee.”

Lisa specializes in preparing complex corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns, as well as in providing tax planning services for individuals and closely held businesses. Before entering public accounting, Lisa worked for nearly 10 years as a bookkeeper at a large auto body shop in the south Twin Cities metro area. In addition to learning about business processes such as accounts payable, receivables, and payroll, the shop gave her a “real-life” education that can’t be paid for with student loans. She believes her best asset is her ability to communicate with just about anyone—a trait that she credits entirely to working in a body shop for 10 years.

Lisa graduated magna cum laude from The College of St. Catherine, earning a B.S. degree in Accounting. She was a member of the International Honor Society in Business, Delta Mu Delta, and the recipient of a national scholarship. She also worked full time throughout her college career, and is proud to say she self-financed her entire education.

Outside of the office, Lisa enjoys spending time with her friends. She loves being on the lake, and enjoys anything to do with the water. She also enjoys reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with her niece and nephew.

“For a lot of people, accounting and tax matters can be very stressful and not something they enjoy dealing with. I take great pride in assisting clients in these areas and providing quality service that takes their stress away so they can focus their time and effort on other important aspects of their life or business.”

Donna has more than 20 years of experience in the financial, accounting, and tax professions. She has spent the last 12 years at CPA firms, primarily focusing on customer service, administrative support, staff training, and income and payroll tax preparation. A graduate of St. Paul College with a degree in Business Administration, she is currently working on becoming a Certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor.

Donna was born and raised in St. Paul and currently lives in Cottage Grove with her significant other, Mike, and her youngest daughter, who is 15. The majority of her free time is spent driving her daughter to and from softball, cheerleading, and the many other activities she is involved in. Donna also enjoys helping plan a wedding for her oldest daughter, who is 23 and getting married in the upcoming year. In the summer months, she tries to get out and ride motorcycle as much as possible and dreams one day of owning a Harley.
